European Heritage Days - A village along the river (FR)

From the sawmill of Villapeyron to the chapel of Trés-les-Pierres, take the time to stroll with your family on the path along the banks of the Dranse. Awaken your senses for an unusual discovery of the hamlet of Essert.

As you follow the river upstream, you’ll trace the history of the hamlet back to its origins. The imposing Villapeyron sawmill will reveal the various stages of woodworking—a vital resource in the mountains. Guided by the murmur of the water, you’ll then travel back in time to understand how the village resort has evolved. Finally, once you arrive in the shade of the little chapel at Très les Pierres, nestled against its massive rock, you can imagine the patient and meticulous work of the slate cutters... not to mention a little snack before heading back!

Be sure to wear sturdy shoes; this trail is not accessible with a stroller.
