Description

Rendez-vous in the early evening at the chapel of Plaine Dranse for the blessing of the skiers and mountain rescuers followed by a torchlight descent. Traditional music and mulled wine and hot apple juice offered to all.

Programme :
18:30: opening of Pierre Longue chairlift (free)
18:45: arrival of the statue of the Virgin, Our Lady of the Snows
19:00 : blessing at the chapel celebrated by Father Nicodème Ferré in the presence of the Vallée d'Abondance Choir accompanied by an accordionist.
After the ceremony, mulled wine and hot apple juice served to the public.
20:15 - 21:00: pedestrians return by chairlift and skiers descend the slope with torches.

Torches on sale for €10 at the tourist office or on the day itself at the foot of the Pierre Longue chairlift from 6.30pm.

Free shuttle buses will run between the centre of Châtel and the Pierre Longue chairlift:

  • at 6:00 pm Centre → Pierre Longue
  • at 6:15pm Centre → Pierre Longue
    Return :
  • 8:45pm Pierre Longue → Centre
  • 9:15pm Pierre Longue → Centre

Pricing

Free access. Torches on sale for €10 at the tourist office or on the day itself at the foot of the Pierre Longue chairlift from 6.30pm.
